The chief executives of more than 100 major U.S. companies and trade organizations sent a letter to congressional leadership Wednesday, urging them to “act immediately to pass a permanent bipartisan legislative solution” to enable beneficiaries of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals Program to continue “living, working and contributing to our communities.”
According to the CEOs, “The imminent termination of the DACA program is creating an impending crisis for workforces across the country. Failure to act in time will lead to businesses losing valuable talent, cause disruptions in the workforce and will result in significant costs.”
The letter cited “studies by economists across the ideological spectrum” which have purportedly determined that if DACA is allowed to expire, the U.S. economy could lose $215 billion in GDP.
Among those signing the letter were Amazon’s Jeff Bezos, Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg and Apple’s Tim Cook.
